So after planting my garden this year and talking to my friends about it I noticed that most of them thought I was crazy for starting a garden from seeds. I personally found it funny since it is cheaper and super easy to start from seeds. So I came up with an email for my friends on simple tips on growing veggies from seeds and thought I would share my tips with you too. If you have any questions comment below and I am more then willing to help you out.
- First you need soak your seeds. I normally go to the dollar store and buy a bunch of cheap small cups and place each of my seeds into a bowl. MAKE sure you label the bowl, forgot my first year. You will let them soak for about 10-15 minutes.
- While they are soaking you can start to fill up your containers with soil, you will fill up a little more then 1/2 full.
- Next place 1-3 seeds in each hole and then mark the side of the container with a permanent marker with the same of the veggie.
- Lastly you will cover them with dirt loosely on the top.
- After that you will water them and you will continue to water them daily till ready to plant. (I let mine grow for 3-4 weeks)
It does take about 1-2 weeks to start seeing sprouts so don’t be disappointed if you don’t see anything right away. The whole process does take 6 weeks so make sure you start your seeds at least 6 weeks before the last freeze. You can store your veggies in your garage under a veggie grow light to help them stay warm and get some “sun” .
