So it is garden season and you are like thinking about the cost of everything and one of the biggest cost is the Miracle Gro and since it is expensive you just skip it. Yes don’t deny it, I do it too. So I talked to a few of my favorite garden friends over lunch the other day and guess what? One of them gave me a recipe that they got for copycat Miracle Gro that they got from a guy at a garden store. I was so excite that i had to go out ASAP and get everything I needed. So I did and I tried it out for a little over a month now and I am LOVING it. So I thought since I am nice and all, I would share with you my little secret. I hope you enjoy and that your garden does amazing this year. Feel free to send me picture if you would like.

Ingredients:

1 gallon of water
1/2 tsp ammonia
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp powdered milk
1 tbsp Epsom salt

Just put in jug, normally I use a cleaned out milk jug and then shake up and use once a month. You will ONLY use 1oz of this mix with 3 cups water. This will make a little more then 12oz. So you will have enough for around 12 months depending on how much you use a month. Also since most of the stuff you won’t need in your house often (ammonia) you should check with your garden friends and see if they need so they can have some Copycat Miracle Gro.

People ask me all the time why do I write coupon deals for people. My answer is simple, I believe that a helping hand is what everyone needs. My hand might not be big and help the world but knowing that I helped one person out makes me feel better every day. I have learned while couponing that it isn’t about the money that you save it is about the families you help get a few extra dollars in food for the month or that one person won’t have to mix water with shampoo to get more out of it because I can find them a deal that will make it affordable for shampoo. I know for some it can be hard to pay it forward but there are a few easy ways you can do it that won’t cost you a dime.

 

Ways you can help others-
- Instead of trading your unused coupons become a coupon fairy, that means leave them in the store near item.
- If you are at the store and see someone buying something and you have a coupon for that you might not use, simple hand your coupon to
them and tell them (pay it forward next time)
- When you have to much in your stockpile instead of selling make a kit and donate it to a homeless person, a shelter and/or friend who may need.
-Teach your friends how to coupon so that instead of seeing them struggle month to month with money they are learning to save.

What to have in your Emergency Kit for Natural Disaster

A natural disaster may strike at any time and without much preamble. At such a time, it is difficult to put together a survival kit. You may have to go without basic amenities and conveniences for a short period of time. Having a survival kit ready ensures that you can evacuate to safety at the earliest and safeguard your life. People living in high risk areas as well as for normal purposes will find it helpful to have the following items in your emergency kit.

1. Water: Water is one of the most essential items required to survive. Hence it is only logical to have water as a top priority in your emergency kit. Make sure you have at least a gallon of water per person per day for drinking and other necessary purposes. It is also wise to have water purification tablets
2. Food: Food that does not need refrigerating or cooking is the most ideal. Health bars are also a great option
3. First Aid kit
4. Blankets and warm clothing
5. Battery powered torch lights, communication devices and chargers. Enough batteries to power the devices.
6. Candles and water proof matches
7. A set of toiletries including toothbrush, toothpaste, small bars of soap and other personal hygiene items
8. Plastic bags, rubbish disposal bags and duct tape
9. Moist wipes
10. Important documents and prescriptions in a water proof bag
11. Pictures, to identify missing persons
12. Emergency drugs and medication
13. Sleeping bags
14. Emergency cash with enough small denominations
15. Whistles and/or other attention grabbing items
16. Children’s activity kit

It is important to note that the water and food items need to be checked and swapped out of the kit every 3-4 months. More importance should be given to clothes which are sturdy and offer protection. An extra pair of footwear also helps to be prepared.

Given any natural disaster, if you have an emergency kit, it is easier to handle the situation and evacuate calmly.

 

Say goodbye to the loooooong lazy hours of sleep. It is almost time to enter the new year of college. With so little time, it is difficult to get everything ready for your life away from home. As for the freshers, this might be your first time living with a stranger. Prepare yourself for your new dorm life. Start here with our checklist on things that you just-must-have before moving in!

  You may never guess when your stomach starts grumbling or when you might need to pull an all-nighter. And when it’s the middle of the night, running to a closed cafeteria is not the most brilliant solution.  When you are in a hurry, its only natural to be forgetful. But things might go out of hand if you show up with one shoe and flashing underwear! Get a full length mirror to take a glance at, even amidst your most hurry-burry day.
No one gets to choose their roommates. Instead of worrying every time you exit the dorm, buy a safe and use it to store your valuables.
Most dorm windows are either broken or won’t open. Take an air freshener to keep the odour out and the freshness in. Why bother about furniture when you can simply shift your armed pillow with you to give a cozy and comfortable spot anywhere. Don’t forget to pack it in!
It is embarrassing enough to share the common bathroom and you most definitely don’t want to run to and fro looking for bathroom equipments. A bath caddy will prevent these situations from arising.Get your tool supply ready and loaded with batteries, tape, flash light, nail file, tweezers etc. You may never know when you may need what!
Finally do not forget the emergency medical supply which includes the basic necessities such as band-aids, cough drops, cold medicine, allergy pills and vitamin C.
 You might need flip flops, for the bathroom if you share with more than one person.  You should look before school starts because they are always cheaper.
If you live to far from home to go do laundry every week then you will need to stop up on quarters for the laundry machine. 
 Accidents happen and we rip our favorite clothes or lose a button to a pair of pants and we want it fixed so bring a travel sized sewing kit, for you can fix your clothes yourself. 
If you are taking a math class you will need a pencil sharpener, because most dorm rooms don’t have them and if you break your pencil you might have to walk all the way to a classroom just to sharpen your pencil.
Buy a nice water bottle, you will need it since you will be walking a lot back and forth to the dorm to the lecture halls.
