We all want those perfect pictures when we pay for our family pictures but picking the photographer is sometimes harder then picking what you are going to wear for the pictures. So I thought I would give you some helpful tips to make the process easier on you.
1) Ask friends who they use
2) Check out their portfolio on their website and/or facebook page, if they have one
3) Check if they have a BBB report on them
4) Google the photographer’s name & company to see if you find anything (add your location for localized results)
5) Make a list of questions/concerns to go over with the photographer
6) ask the photographer for references
7) Make sure you discuss payment and delivery of your photos
I know that you are looking thinking you have to do that much just to find a good photographer and the answer is yes because you never know when a issue could arise you didn’t plan. I recently was in a situation where my fiancee and I didn’t look at all the information about the photographer picked we just saw she was a great price so we went for it. Now we regret the choice we made more then anything. After waiting a little over a month for my photograph CD from the lady that took our engagement pictures, I contacted her about where the CD was and I was told it was in the mail, 7 days later I still had not received and living about 45 minutes from her I asked her to please send me a new one time went by and I still never got my CD. So I texted her about not receiving the photos she proceeded to tell me we need to meet so I was fine with that all I wanted was my CD, so the next time I went to San Antonio I texted her about meeting she never responded back to my text so I was left in the dark about getting my photo CD from her that day. I really was getting to the point I was considered what was going on maybe I broke the camera. I didn’t know so my friend told me to do a BBB check on her and I did and once I opened the page and saw she had a F my jaw dropped to the floor. Both reason on the BBB report where delivery issues, just as I was having so right then I was like I really need to meet this lady to get my photos. So after 2 or 3 more trips to San Antonio and texting her each time to get the photos I still had not received my photos so I am now left in dark without any engagement picture just memories in my head of the photo shoot. I say this not to scare you by any means I am just not wanting anyone else left in the same situation as I am in now waiting on the BBB to try have her fix the issue.
